10 Reasons to Move to Park City, UT

Park City, UT is a special place, and not just because it's home to some of the best ski resorts in the world (though that certainly helps!). It's also a family friendly community, with year-round outdoor activities, plenty of culture, great food, and a truly unique history which is celebrated to this day. We had trouble cutting our list down to just 10 items, but here are the top 10 reasons you'll love your decision to move to Park City, UT.

The Top 10 Reasons You Don't Want to Miss Your Chance to Move to Park City

1. 411.1 inches of fresh, light, powdery snow. That's Park City's yearly snowfall average, and it's not a misprint. Spring and summer bring warm, pleasant weather, as well, so you get the best of both worlds. Winter, however, is a snow-lover's paradise.

2. Park City is now home to the largest ski resort in North America, with the merger of Park City Mountain and The Canyons Resort. 7,300 acres of ski-able terrain means there's always a new trail to explore.

3. In many ski-friendly cities, the season begins wrapping up when the calendar flips to March. Not Park City. Most resorts remain open until at least mid-April, and will happily extend the ski season when weather permits.

4. Of course, skiing is just the start of life in Park City. During the heart of the ski season in late January each year, the Sundance Film Festival comes to town and puts the focus of the independent film world squarely on Park City.

5. Why does Sundance come to Park City? It starts with excellent performance venues, which play to packed audiences throughout the year. Don't miss the chance to see the Egyptian Theatre Company in action.

6. While you're out on the town enjoying a show, you'll have the opportunity to stop for dinner and drinks at the upscale restaurants on Park City's Historic Main street. The district proudly advertises the fact that it doesn't host a single big-name chain restaurant.

7. Park City has a rich, unique history, from its early days as a mining boom-town to the first ski resorts to spring up in the city. The Park City Historical Society does a great job preserving that history, with rotating exhibits, walking tours, and a beautiful museum on Main Street.

8. Park City's ski resorts don't shut down for the summer. They simply switch sports! Enjoy lift-served mountain biking, hiking, zip-line tours, and scenic lift rides at Park City Mountain when the weather turns warm.

9. The stunning terrain of Park City provides the perfect backdrop for an afternoon on the links, and the city is home to a number of award-winning golf courses. As an added bonus, Park City's high elevation means everyone drives the ball a bit longer, here.

10. Considering making a move to Park City, UT, but only planning to live here part-time? You'll be in good company. Park City's close proximity to Salt Lake City International Airportmeans you'll always have an easy time traveling to and from your mountain paradise.

We could keep going, but you get the idea. Park City is not your average city, and the people here wouldn't have it any other way. Contact Cheryl Fine-Whitteron to shop for luxury real estate in Park City, and you'll be building your own top 10 list in no time.
