 Buy new or resale?

Maybe your dream home has the intricate details that you usually find only in older construction - wainscoting and crown molding in the interior, the front porch with a swing, an older tree shading the back yard, and the white picket fence.  Or maybe your dream home has all the conveniences of modern living - open floor plan in the living and dining spaces, large windows, connected, “smart” appliances and security systems, and minimalist design elements.

Whether you go for a brand new construction or an existing home, both types of properties have their pros and cons when it comes to purchasing. What type of home is right for you will depend on which factors are most important for your lifestyle.

Service Delivery: Good Customer Service is Vital for Success

Would you let a brain surgeon conduct surgery after a ten minute crash course on the anatomy of the brain? Well I certainly hope not! Yet most people who work on the front line in any business that work face to face with customers are given a short information session – a ten minute crash course on how to look after, satisfy, delight and spoil their customers.

For staff to do this properly they need to be exposed to training that will include: company systems, sales and service techniques, communication skills, inter-personal skills, products and the industry, to make them into qualified customer service

Last weekend, we the interns took a day trip to Charleston, South Carolina, just a short two-hour drive outside of Hilton Head Island. There, we toured the island by foot, tried the local food, and hit up some of the area’s most unique shops and boutiques. One of our favorite moments was seeing Rainbow Row, a stretch of 13 Georgian row houses painted in bright pastel colors. The homes were quite beautiful and we couldn’t help but stop and take a few photos.

While in Charleston, we ate at Boone’s Bar, a locally owned, three-story tavern. The locals, live music, and great atmosphere provided the perfect setting while we stopped for a quick break to eat. If you ever travel to Charleston, you must visit Boone’s and order the bistro burger, a delicious

The Vail Valley market is very healthy and balanced right now. Demand is high, particularly under $700,000 and for newer homes. And neither buyers nor sellers seem to have the upper hand in negotiations. We are finding sellers and buyers are comprising to find a middle-ground to make deals happen.

According to Land Title Guarantee Company in Vail: Eagle County real estate in May had the highest number of transactions year to date with 178. The total dollar volume also remains strong with over $135M, well above the 2016 year to date average of $119M. This resulted in an overall average sales price of $767,140. For the month of May, 80% of all transactions were sold for less than $1M, and the majority of transactions, 66%, were purchased by locals.

The 2016 Montana Ave Art Walk is in the books, and we count it as an unqualified success!  We were pleased at the number of people from our community who came out to support the Art Walk, bid on auction items, and help to donate to a worthy cause.

Amadea Bailey is a Southern California expressionist painter whose work has been shown in numerous local and national exhibits.  Amadea graciously donated the beautiful piece seen above for the Art Walk auction benefiting One Voice.  You can see more of Amadea's paintings on her website.

The proceeds from the evening's auction were donated to the charity, One Voice.  The program seeks to provide at-risk students with guidance and emotional support so that they can not only enroll in college but succeed

No need to lose sleep over this.

While some think a recession could be looming for the U.S., fresh housing data says the opposite.

Purchases of new U.S. single-family homes just hit their highest level in more than eight years, representing what Wall Street is calling a strong market.

"Today's report confirms the considerable strength in the housing market over the past few months," Rob Martin, an economist at Barclays Plc, said in a note. "We expect housing to continue to firm, on average, over the medium term, with a buoyant household sector supporting both prices and volumes."

George Pearkes, a strategist at Bespoke Investment Group, also pointed out an encouraging trend  for the housing market. He said the data is the exact opposite of

This Summer's grand opening of the Engel & Völkers Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Shop was an exciting start to our internship. Being a part of this new beginning was such a great experience, and we can’t wait to continue helping the shop grow on the island. As an intern, we were able to help prepare for the grand opening by designing bookmarks for our magazines that were handed out to each guest at the party. We also helped set up the office and arrange flowers, furniture, and the outdoor display for the big event. Being able to help pull together such an important and exciting event was a valuable, fun experience for both of us. We were able to meet many professionals from all over Hilton Head and Bluffton, and it was great seeing everyone come together to
