There’s no better British-Columbian treat than enjoying fresh salmon during peak season. Especially when it’s served in the GoldLeaf dining room aboard the Rocky Mountaineer train as it winds through the majestic Rocky Mountains past cascading rivers and waterfalls. Among its sleek passenger cars are fully-staffed galley kitchens where chefs create three-course meals from scratch to serve in dining rooms outfitted with white table cloths, hotel-quality silver and fresh flowers. The food, service and scenery make it one of the best train journeys in North America, a special culinary excursion, and a luxury travel experience. Click here to read the full article

This magnificent villa right on the shores of Lake Como is one of the most prestigious 20th century dwellings on the lake. The main villa is surrounded by a large, level English garden measuring about 6,000 sq/m with numerous centuries-old trees, including one that is cited as being the tallest in Europe. On the left of the road that leads into the villa there is a large dock where a number of boats can be moored and whose roof makes a wonderful terrace on the waterfront where the vacationer can sit and relax and enjoy the wonderful view across Lake Como as far as Bellagio on the opposite shore. A delightful walk along the waterfront leads right up to the villa and the other side of the garden. This villa, which is the historical Italian home of an important aristocratic family, consists of three floors plus the basement. The whole villa is about 750 sq/m and has various living rooms, all facing the lake, 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. There is also a study, a reading room and a splendid dining room. A 180-degree view over Lake Como can be enjoyed from all the downstairs and upstairs rooms. The villa is tastefully decorated with antique furnishings and fittings, while at the same time a recent renovation has updated, by replacing it, the entire electric plant. The owners have painstakingly preserved the villa and its furnishings’ original and unique characteristics while at the same time adding all the comforts and features that are expected of a modern home. On the grounds is also a custodians’ house in which the two caretakers reside. Click here to see more about this property
