Engel & Völkers Houston - Flood Disaster Relief, Food Drive for Montgomery County

Monday, June 20th, 2016 at 8:44am Engel & Völkers Houston

Engel & Völkers Houston - The Woodlands Team had a successful Food Drive this past weekend to benefit the local victims of our recent floods. The drive was advertised through door hangars to local subdivisions, on the Woodlandsonline community website and announced through local radio. Generous donors stopped by bringing supplies of non-perishable food, toiletries, toothbrushes and toothpaste and our collection boxes filled up very quickly.

We were very surprised  when we also received a large donation of items from a River Ridge resident who had been flooded herself. She, and flooded neighbors, had collected items for distribution and had some excess that she wanted to be forwarded on to others who were still struggling. It was interesting to see that there were some large donations of bug spray and hand sanitizers. When I mentioned what a great idea that was and would never have thought of it myself, she said only when you have been flooded do you realize how much these are needed.
Friends also dropped off donations at our homes and some residents requested we go by their homes to collect donations. Once we have those we will be taking everything to The Montgomery Food Bank for their distribution. We are so very grateful for the generosity of our neighbors and pleased to be able to offer assistance to those in need.
A special thank you also to Ace Hardware who allowed us to use the front of their store and also offered us tables, chairs and water if we needed it
