Hawaii is such a magnificent place to live. Part of our island chains appeal lies in the natural beauty and variety of cultures. Visitors are often enchanted by the raw and natural beauty on the North Shore of Oahu. Just one of many sights to experience on the North Shore is the Triple Crown Surf Contest; which is said to be the world’s most prestigious annual contest surfing series for both men and women. Perhaps, your fancy is that of a serene setting, where you are enveloped with clouds as you head up to a morning sunrise. Then Haleakala, on the island of Maui, will surely prove to be a treat with breathtaking views, not to be missed.
The Big Island, like Oahu and Maui, also has much to offer. This summer I had the wonderful privilege of vacationing on the Big Island. Visiting Kilauea Volcano after dark for a night lava viewing left a long-lasting impression. “This volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the world! A perfect excursion for night owls.” The Big Island also offers some of Hawaii’s most affordable real estate and a great opportunity to live “of the beaten path.”
While staying in Kona I had a chance to experience something quite remarkable. As many of you know, I love travel and great food! To my delight I stumbled upon a hidden gem, “Restaurant La Bourgogne.” This French restaurant is unassuming and was a delightful treat. This intimate locale is a “jewel box full of surprises.” One of my delectable dishes featured scallops, fresh mango, beets, carrots, and local lettuce. I ended my evening with their Chocolate Souffle. It was all so delicious! “Restaurant La Bourgogne” inspired me to write this article based on discovering even more that Hawaii has to offer. Here is to a touch of France all the way here in the Hawaiian islands. I invite all to explore, enjoy, and continue to experience all that our islands have to offer.
