Fall in Love with a Sun Valley Summer

Wednesday, June 7th, 2017 at 12:18pm Engel & Völkers Sun Valley

Let’s face it; Sun Valley is known as a winter destination. We are, after all, a ski town. However, many people believe Summer to be the golden season instead. If you have always wondered what Sun Valley looks like after the snow melts and the flowers bloom, now’s the time to find out. If you are still on the fence, let these few ideas push you over the edge:

Walk it Out

Sun Valley and Ketchum are very walking-friendly towns. If you prefer to step it up a bit and hop on a bike, there’s plenty of accommodations for that as well. Needless to say, you don’t need to bother with your car. Wander around town or utilize the bike path to step more into nature and you will truly experience all that is Sun Valley. And if you feet get tired, just hop on the free community bus that stops all throughout down town and the resort every few minutes during peak summer season

Get Away From It All

Downtown Ketchum and Sun Valley are by no means a hustling metropolis. However, should you want to experience even more seclusion, just a quick drive north lands you in some of the most pristine forests with only nature as your companion. Within 15 minutes, you can be out of cell phone range and enjoying the view of rivers, mountain lakes, and jagged peaks. Drive a little further and experience Redfish lake for a true lake side experience.

Bring Fido Along

Most locals have at least one dog, so bringing your four legged friend along throughout the summer is almost expected. Whether you are grabbing a beer on a patio or hiking to the top of Baldy, your pup is certainly welcome.

Fancy Events With a Casual Dress Code

Sun Valley’s prestige helps bring world-renowned artists, musicians, conferences and more to the Valley. However, the laid back lifestyle continues to shine through. You can easily attend a symphony, wine auction or gallery opening in the same clothing you wore to your morning yoga sesh. No stuffy ties or uncomfortable high heels needed.

Activity Overload

When the snow melts, the amount of outdoor activities multiply. Road biking, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, boating, swimming, paddle boarding, golfing and more are all within minutes of the resort. And if you don’t have the gear or just want to try something out, one of the many outdoor retailers can help you out!

Summertime in Sun Valley is truly magical. Once you try it for the first time, you will finally understand the saying “come for the winter, stay for the summer.” Winter seems to bring visitors, while summer makes lifelong residents.
