What is a Smart Home?

Although this seems like a new idea, the term ‘smart home’ has actually been around since the 1980’s. A smarthome is a home equipped with lighting, heating, and electronic devices that can be controlled remotely by phone or computer. Many years ago, integrating smart systems was costly! These days, the concept has evolved and devises, wiring costs—all of it has gotten increasingly affordable and accessible.

Why invest in a smart home? Sellers are positioning smart devices as differentiators when selling their home. In high end markets, it’s becoming a necessity. Many builders are now installing smart devices in all new construction. It’s truly only a matter of time until these devices will be found amongst lower-priced listings.

Many smart home accessories are money saving solutions. Not interested in buying a new home? Start by making small changes that improve your lifestyle in your current home. Whether it be the Nest Thermostat, Belkin WeMo switch or the Amazon Echo interactive speaker--- choose to advance features that will be a cost effective improvement.

Where to start? Seek the guidance of a professional! Companies like Control4 or Lelch. See below for more details!
