We recently met with Tony Sonnen, owner of Gonyea Homes to discuss their business.  The meeting was held at their office in Golden Valley, a new facility for them.  Tony was a gracious host and very forthcoming about the details of how they conduct business on a day to day basis and how they interact with their customers.

First, lets discuss their headquarters.  The central location is perfect for anyone’s needs.  Any customer, employee, contractor (or a REALTOR looking to take up the time of a busy executive) can easily get there without hassle.  The space is HUGE, yet obviously needed for one of the states largest independent home builders.   It’s gorgeous, which is to be expected if you've seen any of their homes.  You'll be greeted right away by a receptionist, who will probably already know your name if you’ve set an appointment.  The architectural and design staff all office in one large room which I’m sure is conducive to great collaboration.  There are several meeting rooms that are used for, I’m sure, a variety of different reasons.  And then there’s the design center.  They’ve got everything- carpet, tile, countertops, wood flooring, barn wood, cabinets, paints, light fixtures, accessories, fabrics, plumbing fixtures, and more.  Plus, Tony said sourcing other items isn’t a problem.  They build custom homes, and they have the resources and the reputation to prove it.

Gonyea Homes largest sales volume comes from the custom home sector, which provides them with 80% of their sales.  And why not, who wouldn’t rather build custom homes!  They have an in-house design staff that works together to create your vision.

One thing that we didn’t get a chance to discuss with Tony was their commitment to quality construction.  We’ll have to get to that in our next meeting.  But what I can say is, they have gone, and will go the extra mile.  According to their website, they are the first home builder in the United States to become a “Holmes Approved Partner Builder”.  Sure, Mike Holmes is a popular reality TV host, but first and foremost is a contractor.  Not just any contractor, one that believes that ‘minimum code’ is simply not enough.  In this day and age, when most contractors bottom line is everything, Gonyea Homes makes sure that your home is “built right”.  This makes a stronger, safer, more energy efficient home.

Gonyea Homes has peaked our interest, how about you?
