When you begin an internship somewhere new and unfamiliar, although you are excited and eager, there is also usually feelings of anxiousness and worry. However, when we, the interns, began at Engel & Völkers we knew from the very first day that there was no need to be anxious or worried. From day one the Engel & Völkers team was welcoming, willing to help, and made us feel like a member of their team.
As interns we have been assigned tasks based off of our interests, skills, and company needs. With Jesse being more talented in design, he has been responsible for tasks such as designing event invitations, creation of templates, and real estate tasks like submissions for Shop TV. Ashlan, with her skillset residing in social media, has been given responsibilities such as managing Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and the blog. Some of her real estate responsibilities include checking to make sure online listing information is correct and marketing these listings on social media. We have been working with the Special Olympics a lot as well, which has been an enjoyable experience. We have created marketing materials for them, are helping to plan two big events, and are volunteering at both of these events.
Aside from the main tasks assigned to us, we have also picked up smaller tasks here and there. Whenever we are presented with an opportunity to help, we both jump on it. We want to learn as much as possible from this internship, and what better way to do so than help wherever we can assist. Which leads us to connections.
The Engel & Völkers team is made up of such talented, knowledgeable, and passion-filled people. With these inviting personalities, we have been able to help them with simple tasks and learn new skills while doing so. They are also such reliable sources of information whenever we have a question. Get them started on real estate, and be prepared to listen for hours!
“You learn something new every day.” This quote certainly wraps up our experience so far at Engel & Völkers. Every single day we have learned something new, whether it has been a new task or skill we have never done before, or one we have learned to perfect.
