Engel & Völkers Hilton Head – Bluffton is a proud partner of the Special Olympics. This weekend I had the amazing opportunity of volunteering and getting to see first-hand the impact this non-profit organization makes on their Olympians and their families. Benefiting Special Olympics Area 8, co-directors Kathy Cramer and Cherie Taylor along with their team hosted the Razzle Dazzle Fundraiser. This fundraiser featured a silent auction of purely donated items, including a donation from our shop! All of the silent auction bids went directly to SOAR Special Recreation, aiding athletes of all ages and disabilities to attend and compete in various sporting events. Taking place at the Indigo Run Country Club, all attendees were catered to a delicious dinner and dancing. My favorite part of the event was when Kathy Cramer spoke on behalf of the Olympians and their accomplishments. I loved seeing the athletes elated faces as their names were announced. The Olympians shared that they won gold in tennis, enhanced their cheerleading skills and won gold in equestrian at a competition held in Greece. How amazing! The entire event was incredibly heart-warming. I am thankful to be interning for a company that is so committed to caring for the community. I hope to volunteer at more SOAR Special Recreation events in the future!
A big change has happened for me at this internship, I am now working out of the South Island Shop, on 7 New Orleans Road. I can’t decide what shop I like best, the one at 800 Main Street or this one. The South Island Shop has an inviting patio with an adorable shop dog named Millie. This shop is surrounded by Palmetto Trees and is only a short walk to Java Burrito, one of my favorite lunch spots. Life at the South Island Shop is incredibly busy, with advisors coming in and out all day, I am constantly organizing and tidying up. Clients are always coming by to chat with the advisors and everyone has been so friendly. One of the things I like best about Engel & Völkers is how personable everyone is and how everyone is one big family. I can’t express enough how much I am enjoying this internship and life on Hilton Head Island.
