International Smoke, Where Cali and Texas had a Head on Collision

Friday, July 6th, 2018 at 10:38pm LaTasha Jackson

Where there's smoke, there's fire! THAT IS FOR SURE! International Smoke is the perfect mix of Ayesha's Jamaican roots, hints of Cali and southern home cooking, that will keep you coming back for more!

Let me start by saying, it was me and three of my friends. We ordered three drinks, an appetizer, a salad, two main courses, one side, desert and I could not not take my husband home some of her ribs!! Everything was PHENOMENAL.

Before I get to the food, the service and every single person in the restaurant was so hospitable. The restaurant was made to be in Houston. We are known for our southern hospitality and International Smoke gives us all those types of feels. Michael Mina personally stopped by our table, more than once, to ask how we liked the food. I LOVED the Sinaloa Chicken. Try it, and have him make it special just like he did for me :).

The drinks, well, the Boozy and Bougie section was where I stayed. It was right up my alley. Thank you Ayesha. The Shape Shifter had me a little shifted, but it was wonderful and fresh and my first time trying Del Maguey Mezcal. Your dad said Gina Jamaica is your favorite, so I will be back to try it!

Back to the people. Anthony, Jason, and of course, Ayesha Dad, John, are the nicest, sweetest, most hospitable people I have met at an opening of a restaurant.

Before my departure, I had to ask Mike, "Why Houston?" He said to me the culture of Houston fits International Smoke perfectly. You know what? He is absolutely right!
