When housing prices reach $2,000,000 (Two Million Dollars) for 846 square feet in the Bay Area, why not consider the unpopulated, somewhat unsophisticated and definitely laid back state of Idaho? I get it if you have a 7 figure salary, it's probably not that easy to make a change- so you do your best to live close to work, decrease your commute, gain more personal time, reduce the hassle... all are important to your quality of life. But when you end up having to pay more than $2000.00 per square foot for a 2 bedroom house on a "large" lot (6000 square feet) you really might want to investigate other possibilities! You could live in the world famous ski resort of Sun Valley, Idaho for instance- and for less than 2 million dollars-way less! Your cost of living is less, your commute is most likely non-existent (provided your employer allows you to work remotely or you quit your job) and your stress level decreases exponentially. Yes, in our small towns, Ketchum, Sun Valley, Hailey and Bellevue, which make up the greater Wood River Valley, it is possible to work, play and so much more... all in the course of a day. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to make this our home recognize the 6 & 7 figure salaries, while attractive, cant hold a candle to the lifestyle gained by some pretty simple adjustments.
