Limelight hotel aspen rendering

The new Limelight Hotel transforms Snowmass Base Village into an epicenter of family fun.

The Snowmass Base Village development project has been 10 years and $600 million in the making, and the new Limelight Hotel is its beacon of light. The newly constructed property officially welcomes its first owners and guests this season and is now accepting reservations for January 2019 (of the 11 residences for sale, 8 have already sold). The 99-room slope-side hotel is the quintessential modern property with its unique amenities (like the five-story, glass encased climbing wall located in the center of the lobby) and luxury comfort created with lifestyle and family fun in mind.

What you want to know: The Basics.

For starters? The Limelight is one of only a handful of hotels in Aspen’s four-mountain resorts that has true ski-in/ski-out access. It’s also front-and-center in Snowmass Base Village, including the brand new plaza ice skating rink where both the ice skating and the ice skates are free (Can you say #onlyinaspen?). A patio with heated fire pits out front provides front-row seating for people watching and checking out all the action. The rooms are decked out with the little things that mean a lot when it comes to differentiating it from just any hotel: mountain modern interior design with luxury finishes, state-of-the-art technology, and who can live withoug a Keurig coffee maker? Other cool stuff worth mentioning are the two pool spas with spa-side cabanas and fireplace, fitness room and of course, a ski valet.

The Lounge is the center of all the Limelight Hotels (currently there are properties in downtown Aspen and Sun Valley, Idaho with other locations in the works) where a killer breakfast spread, lunch, dinner, wood fire pizzas, and live music have gained a reputation for being the town living room in Aspen because it’s such a popular spot for locals and visitors to gather. Mawa’s Crepe Shop is also opening, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. (You’re not a local until you’ve meet Chef Mawa, or better yet, tried one of her world-famous crepes).

All in the Family: Kids and pets welcome.

Let’s be honest: Aspen doesn’t exactly cater to the little ones. It’s a little bit Manhattan and Snowmass is a little bit Brooklyn. The Limelight has gone above and beyond to appeal to families. Check it out: there’s a kid’s room with games, books, and toys for little ones to gather and maybe even give the parents a break during meal times or apres ski. Baby equipment, such as a diaper genie or Pack n Play can be provided in your room. The hotel is pet friendly, so that means your fur babies are welcome, too.

For Owners: Own a piece of paradise.

Here’s the thing: the residences are already almost sold out, so that’s all the evidence you need that this property is hot. Units range from 1,300 – 2,600 square feet and start at

$1.955 million for a 2-bedroom to $4.765 for the Penthouse which—let’s be honest—is a deal by Aspen’s sky-high real estate price standards. These units offer drop-dead-gorgeous views and feature thoughtful interior design that really does feel like home and not a glorified hotel suite.

A Rising Star: The Limelight Brand

The Limelight has a long history in Aspen, first as a rough and tumble bar in the 1950s an then as a family owned ski lodge that was eventually acquired by Aspen Skiing Company in 2005 and totally rebuilt and remodeled into the hotel it is today. With new properties in Snowmass Base Village and Sun Valley, Idaho, this rapidly growing brand has only just begun. //
